Brief History

This was established in 1923 following a decision taken at the second general meeting of the women’s guild in Lagos under the leadership of the Mrs Melville Jones, Wife of the then Bishop of Lagos.

Girls and Ladies Guild

The Lagos Mainland Diocese Girls and Ladies Guild was established August 23rd 2006 on the inauguration of the Lagos Mainland Diocese with Mrs Bassey Akinde as the First Diocesan President

The Guild was intended to be an umbrella group for all unmarried girls and ladies within the Anglican Communion. Membership is open to all baptized girls and ladies in the church.


To build up the girl child into complete womanhood from the days of her youth to be socially cultured, intellectually dynamic, morally upright and spiritually active.


To have on ground a formidable relationship with God and one another through regular fellowship, interpersonal relationship, training, retreats and seminars.
