History

The Committee On Evangelism was constituted by the then Rev Canon Caleb Maduoma, (now Archbishop) in November/December, 1989. Late Philip Akurienne was the first Chairman.

In February 1990, the Committee became better organized with Rev. Canon Maduoma as the Chairman and Bro Chidozie Obinnwa (now Rev. Canon) as the programme Coordinator and Elder Caleb Umejiaku was made the Vice Chairman. Each society was asked to bring two members except ACM that was asked to bring five members
As time went on some members discovered that the committee was not like other committees of the church because of its enormous and painstaking spiritual demands, they started leaving one after another. The membership was therefore thrown open to any member of the church that could cope with the demands. It was at this juncture that many ACM members became members of the COE because that was were most Born-again Christians belonged in those days.

After Rev. Canon Maduoma left,it became a tradition that every Vicar automatically becomes the Chairman of COE.

Dozie Obinnwa handed over to Bro Tychicus Okoli(now Rev Canon Tychicus Okoli) who later handed over to Bro Okey Obodozie (now Rev Okey Obodozie) and as a result of higher calling, he handed over to the current Coordinator, Bro Adol Ike Oduche.

The Committee has many units namely: Prayer, Outreach, Counselling, Ushering, Tracts and Publicity, Visitation, technical, welfare, Bible Study, Equipment/Property Managers

Purpose

The COE perform the following functions amongst others:

Revival Programmes

The COE plans and organises most church revival programmes on behalf of the church leadership. These include the weekly Parish fellowship, monthly Revival Services, monthly Parish Vigils, etc. Members are encouraged to partake in these life-enriching programmes.

Outreach

Plans and executes outreach missions to remote villages every Christmas season. Many wonderful testimonies have followed this consistent labour of love over the years. The Christmas mission is usually followed up every Mid-year with a second missionary visit to the locations previously reached. Members are encouraged to submit requests for mission locations. Such requests are put into consideration while shortlisting the target mission locations for each Christmas Evangelism.

Oversight functions

The group also have oversight functions on behalf of the church leadership on all church revival programmes, including programmes organized by other groups and societies. They therefore serve as gatekeepers on the Vicar's behalf to see that no strange/false or unwholesome doctrine finds its way into the heart of the church through the pulpit especially by means of 'guest preachers'. All groups and societies are encouraged to work closely and corporate with the COE to fulfill this mandate as it is for the overall spiritual growth and safety the body of Christ in All Saints Church.

Programmes

Transformation Class

Life Transformation Class aka(Follow-up studies) is a necessary study series designed to help baby Christians and new converts to be rooted, built up and established in faith.

Col. 2:6-7(GNB)

Since you have accepted Christ Jesus as Lord, live in union with him.
Keep your roots deep in him, build your lives on him, and become stronger in your faith, as you were taught. And be filled with thanksgiving.

(Act 20:32)(MKJV)

And now, brothers, I commend you to God, and to the Word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

Deep Christian faith (strong roots) can only be developed by earnest study of the 'Word of His grace'. Every Christian is therefore enjoined to tap into this means of grace so as to become a powerful and fruitful Christian, equipped and eager to do good works.
